Use barcode information alongside your own taste notes
Understand the difference between product database information and a personal food rating.
A barcode lookup identifies a database entry; it does not measure the taste of the food you are holding. Use the retrieved product information as a starting point and add a rating based on your own experience.
Open Food Facts is a collaborative product database. Entries may be missing or outdated. Compare names, quantities and ingredients with the packaging, especially when the product has recently changed.
A personal taste rating is not a nutritional assessment or a guarantee of allergen safety. Check the actual ingredient and allergen information and use appropriate professional advice when it affects your health.
Keep notes concrete and useful: how you prepared the product, what you enjoyed or what you would choose differently. what Taste helps you remember those impressions in your private archive; the public community remains unavailable until it is operationally approved.
